Founder & CEO
Sonaar Luthra is the Founder and CEO of Water Canary, a company that works at the intersection of water technology, water policy, water finance, and water strategy to help clients manage 21st century water risk. He began developing water sensors in graduate school and founded Water Canary in an effort to make water quality data more affordable and accessible. Today he is not just developing new ways to identify and manage rapid transformations in water quality and availability, but the protocols, systems, policies and financial instruments required to implement them at scale.
Sonaar is a TED Fellow, a member of the GE Global Insights Network, and he was designated a global expert in water quality and climate change by the Obama State Department. He has expertise across all aspects of the water space in areas ranging from remote monitoring, testing & treatment technologies, municipal water, agriculture and supply chains to public policy, finance, insurance, conservation and informatics. He has worked with the US State Department, UNICEF, the UN, the USGS, the EPA, the California State Water Resources Control Board, California GovOpps and every major water NGO on earth.
