“I'm a student at the University of Central Florida that's pursuing a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies on the Sciences tract, with and expected graduation of May 2022. I'm also currently interning at the Environmental Protection Division (EPD) of Orange County, FL.I have a passion for Water Conservation and Urban Ecology, and am developing my skills with Excel, AutoCAD, and GIS, pursuing a certificate in the latter.

I firmly believe in the value of good communication and transparency when it comes to science, especially with interdisciplinary studies that have potentially far-reaching consequences. It's why I value my work at the EPD so greatly, because it's one of the most direct connections that the government has with the people in regards to how the city is being managed. The Water Emissary program was definitely helpful in that regard, as it gave me an opportunity to connect and network with a lot of professionals in the water sector. The stories they told about what they do and how they started out broadened my horizons on community outreach and how different people have taken different paths to accomplish the shared goal of Water Conservation and Equity. Our speakers were engineers and scientists, but also entrepreneurs, or even just normal concerned citizens who took action. They worked in both the public and private sectors, for profit or nonprofit, internationally or locally. It showed me that everyone can help contribute to the goal of Water Conservation and Equity in their own way.” - Christopher Ge
