“I am an ambitious learner and am now a part-time MA student at NYU focusing on animal and environmental protection. My goal is to critically think through the issues that our environment and animals face and develop communication strategies to make them relevant to everyone. Most recently I was a research assistant on "Saving Animals, Saving Ourselves," by Professor Jeff Sebo (Oxford Univeristy Press, forthcoming) which makes the connection between our treatment of non-human animals, pandemics, and climate change.
My thesis work is on the fish of the Hudson River and the ecological hardships that dams pose.
I am looking for ways to make systems sustainable with protecting biodiversity as a goal.
I am also very interested in the sustainability aspects of food and developing alternatives for animal agriculture/ aquaculture.
I am happy to work across different media types in order to share stories and build knowledge.” - Julieta Cardenas
